Multi-court set-up

The multi-court set-up is a recreational form: several matches are arranged around a shared centre so that the flight paths of the speeders cross. That adds a difficulty all of its own — and a real risk.

The appeal lies in perception: other people's speeders fly through your periphery, and your job is to reliably separate your own from them. This demands more of your attention control than any ordinary match. At the same time the most important note belongs to safety: where the paths cross, in the centre, the risk of collisions and of being hit is raised. This form thrives on overview and consideration, not on maximum pace.

Next time you play in a multi-court set-up: what tells your own speeder apart from the others — direction, height, colour? Set out to focus your attention deliberately on your own speeder and to register the others only at the edge. And keep an eye on the centre: where paths cross, consideration decides safety.
