Serving in doubles, made simple

The serve works the same in doubles as in singles — from below, from the service zone, one foot on the floor. The only new thing is that there are four of you and the serve follows a fixed order. For the start it's enough to understand the basic logic; the full rotation comes later.

First things first: in doubles the back player always serves, the rear-court player. They stand in the service zone and bring the Speeder into play. Their partner, the attacking player, stands further forward and is ready to intercept the first short ball after the serve.

The right to serve travels through all four players in a fixed order. For the start you only need to remember: everyone gets a turn, in a set order, and no one serves out of turn. You'll learn the exact sequence as you get more secure — in the advanced doubles module it's explained in detail.

A simple agreement helps even now: before the serve, quickly clarify whose turn it is, so no one gets confused. A glance or a word is enough.
